Chapter 3.3 Vocabulary

candidate: someone who is being considered for a job or is competing to be elected
rather: quite, fairly
calm: quiet and without excitement, nervous activity, or strong feeling
hypothetical: based only on an idea or suggestion about what might happen or might be true and not on a real situation
rude: speaking or behaving in a way that is not polite and is likely to offend or annoy people
circumstances: the conditions that affect a situation, action
respond: to react to something that has been said or done
hint: something that you say or do in order to tell someone something in an indirect way, so that they can guess what you mean, a very small amount or sign of something
attitude: the opinions and feelings that you usually have about something
appearance: the way someone or something looks to other people
